yeah for as poopy as he was in the preseason (and it was super poopy), he has been really solid in the regular season. still handles the puck like a bit of a grenade, but otherwise really solid.
 
Now the bad news

Of the 565 skaters who have played at least 30 games this season, Benoit ranks dead last in points per 60 at five-on-five (0.12). Not only is he at the bottom of the leaderboard he’s in a league of his own. Oskar Steen is 564th on the list and his 0.22 mark is 83.3 percent better than Benoit’s.

Some of the defenceman’s lack of offensive output can be chalked up to bad luck as he has an on-ice shooting percentage of 5.74 percent at five-on-five, but he also doesn’t do much to help put the put in the net.

this also jibes with the eye test
 
You have to have some semblance of a shot for shooting percentage to matter. I haven’t seen him take a decent one yet. And his go to play is that pinch down the left boards where he runs out of real estate and ends up doing nothing with the puck. Not good offensively, that’s for sure.

But very good and physical defensively.

I was wrong about Domi. I thought playing in a big market might fire him up (like it did in MTL)

Bertuzzi on a 10 goal pace is hard to figure out.
 
is it because he's useless when the other team has the puck? not exactly an unknown going in....possible schism between Shelly and Trey

last yr: 6.90 ht/60
this yr: 6.45 ht/60

Did Torts finally teach him to actually play hockey instead of being a goon.
