Finally on Tuesday I’m told action started to pick up with teams circling back and getting more serious on Walker. That doesn’t mean he will for sure get dealt as the Philadelphia Flyers aren’t moving him for what they deem to be a lackluster return. But I think it’s more likely than not he does get moved…. iThe Toronto Maple Leafs and the Oilers have kept tabs with Philly, including over the last few days.

It's gotten to the point where I don't discuss the Leafs with anyone in real life. In fact, most people now think I have zero interest in the team these days. It's not fun getting outnumbered by idiotic opinions so it's best to share different interests with them; they're not bad people, just really dumb on one particular topic! For some reason hockey brings out the absolute worst in people.

His relative nerdies are off the charts this year. Pretty solid in the previous 2 years as well. Don't think his usage is super tough or that he's anywhere near a top pair D but I mean when the alternatives appear to be Dumba and Savard, maybe we shouldn't get too picky here and take this as a W.

Probably worth extending him too. Shouldn't be too expensive and a better option than Brodie moving forward.

But on the other hand he was healthy scratched in the playoffs just last year. So I'm not sure I'd expect a stud here.

Pretty sure seeler-walker is their shut down pair.

Funnily enough his stats are pretty similar to Muzz when we acquired him. Elite offensive, above average defensive impact in tough minutes. Of course Muzz was a caveman and I have no idea how tough Walker defends. But if he isn’t a pussy like Rielly/Brodie it makes a ton of sense.
 
Hm yeah on second glace, yes it is. Still not extreme usage particularly with zone starts but he's crushing the nerdies this year in minutes that aren't quite cushy soft. It's an outlier-ish year.. He got some soft minutes in LA in the prior 2 years (and didn't even get into their starting playoff lineup last year) and his relative numbers were good, just good. Though I guess he could be one of those weirdo late career breakout D. He seems to be thriving in his larger role with Philly. Worth a shot probably and would buck the trend of Tre grabbing the worst D on the worst teams in the NHL.

He kind of seems like... An older Liljegren. Which is funny because that's exactly who he'd be replacing in the lineup!
 
LAs D is awesome. Doughty, Roy, Gavrikov, Anderson. And they still had Durzi.

He’s a guy like Sandin/Lilly/Parayko/Sergachev that crushed third pair minutes, but then when he got a top 4 opportunity was still good.

Either way compared to Savard/Dumba/Bogo/Boosh… well there is no comparison.
 
Yeah Leafs are gonna need bodies next year anyway.. No reason he can't be a part of it. Shouldn't be particularly expensive. If they trade for him they should work out an extension as well.

And fill in the gaps from there this summer, try to find a top pair guy whether it's a LHD or RHD. Maybe this will get them to stop caring about handedness so much.

TLDR: my expectations have shrunk.

I’m surprised more of you aren’t talking about Parayko. He seems like the best fit tbh and comes with a reasonable contract.

last time we saw Parayko, Knies danced through him for the best goal of his career, and McMann stepped right into the crease untouched for a nice easy goal.
 
for the record i just got absolutely bamboozled by some sort of bug over the past week. knocked me the fuck out for days on end. only just recovering. If they felt like that then I get it. I'm sure it wasn't covid tho. probably covid tho.
