We hear this all the time. 1000% the most money is in Toronto. This is simply his side following their own negotiation tactic they basically said they'd do since last summer.
He's signing with the Leafs for 8 years. I kind of find it humorous hearing people say 14 million in Chicago is more than he'll get in Toronto. He won't get 14, but 8 years is more $.

Willy and Auston were never leaving. As of this moment, Mitch is done with Toronto.
 
Ya that’s the only thing that makes me think he wants to stay. He’s refused to leave for a year when he had opportunities. Mirtle said that wasnt the first time they asked him just the first time it got out.
 
I don't trust Treliving to be the guy who distributes that 22 million around, but it seems like lots of other good teams do just fine not having 50 million spent on 4 forwards. Building your top 6 around Matthews and Willy is a pretty, pretty good start if it comes to that.
 
Yeah you have to keep him now tbh. Unless you're ok with taking a step back. Which.. maybe that's ok too if they flame out again in the playoffs.
