No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Put him with the fucken marlies then. Jesus. Even when healthy he doesn’t deserve to be in a playoff line up based on all previous playoff games.

Why can’t Shanny find a real coach with any brains to play the best line up possible?

Can we get the USA border folks to not let our fucken coaching staff to cross into the USA - have someone put some anti Trump shit in his phone, so they lock him away for the playoffs.

As I think about this. What’s to stop someone from making twitter accounts for star players the leafs might face and post a shit ton of anti-Trump stuff to their name. Get them all stopped at the border

With this win against the canes it would guarantee the leafs would have home ice if they played the canes in the ECF.

So here is my predictions for the SCF.

Leafs beat Sens in 5
Tampa beats panthers then lose to leafs in 6

Habs beat Washington
Canes best Jersey.
Canes destroy habs

ECF Canes vs Leafs.
Leafs in 6

I need a bit more time to determine the west, but I'm leaning between Vegas or Colorado...but could you imagine the jets vs leafs finals. Bettman would die.

Leafs in 5 vs the jets 😜

Picking the Leafs against the Sens? And in 5?

This core's history suggests otherwise and I am going with history when the match up is finalized.

Pretty funny to me that this chart is mostly all blue....except in the areas we most want it to be blue.

I like the chart since the trade deadline (18gms) better, even it's far from perfect:

There's actually a blueprint for success in this chart here - actual elite defensive play and goaltending, with an offense carried by elite skill (PP and 5v5 sh%) despite not having great overall team offensive play. Key here is that this PP success here is with the 5-forward unit. The only big black mark since the deadline is the PK, and I'm not sure why. Carlo/Laughton were supposed to be nice upgrades here.

For better or for worse this last chart probably shows us how it's gonna be the rest of the way - but at least now we can see some signs of a legit elite defensive team, which puts the team ahead of what we've seen most of the year. Still have a lot riding on special teams and goaltending tho.

The O would look a lot better if Auston was Auston this year. It’s difficult to conceive that a 40 goal 90 point pace is a “bad” year but everything probably looks better with the usual 50+ goal matthews.

Auston's individual expected numbers aren't that far off his norm. 1.3 ixg/60 the last 3 years, and 1.21 this year.

He is also 1st on the team witg 3.18 xGF/60 (only Leaf over 3), which isn't far off last year (3.27).

Kind of nuts how good he's actually been considering he can't shoot and thats his secret weapon.

Funnily enough his xGA is significantly worse than it has been over the last 5 years, but thats Berube.
