so am I correct that the trend in the statewide races that will determine the election seems to be moving towards Kamala, but nationally the race is tightening (or at least in the two most recent polls this week from good pollsters...)

this is interesting - this number was definitely solidly in the GOP's favour most of the last couple years.

Kinda.
WI and MI, the two least swingy of the swing states have tightened a bit but still lean solidly blue.
PA and AZ have definitely moved towards red. Though PA is still leaning slightly blue and AZ is leaning just as much red.
NC and NV have definitely moved towards blue. Both are either even or leaning bluish at this point.
GA has either moved blue or stayed the same i can't quite remember where it was at. Still leaning slightly red.
Nationally Kamala seemed to peak between 3-3.5 and now sits around 2.5.

I don't include WaPo or NYT averages on my spreadsheet because i won't pay for them.
But these are pretty similar to my average of the averages, but with WaPo having PA about 1pt more blue and GA about 1pt more red.
