OT: American Politics

False. He said that about 1949. This was not a prediction, but a statement on his view of 1949 society.

Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights.

He was right then, it hasn't gotten better.

"You dummy don't you know these statistics!! Screw your bank account, costs, and day to day problems!!"
"You dummy I don't care about any of the ways "economists" measure for a recession!! I have decided that despite eating out all the time, buying a truck and a roomful of Trump hats, the price of eggs is a dollar higher than it was 5 years ago so I declare we're in a recession you fancy number libz"

Not the argument. More like "Ok I've spent half of my take home pay on housing, half of the remaining on childcare, and half of the remaining on monthly groceries and now I'm living paycheck to paycheck"

Eggs prices are definitely higher than historical average.

Look at beef too. Sheesh
