Freedom of speech means you’re allowed to say fuck you in response to a point you don’t like. It doesn’t mean I need to continue having the discussion. I suppose Fuck you is an opinion. It’s probably not one someone would express in person.
It’s not worth trying to have a discussion with someone like that though. Not that it hurts my feelings at all, but it’s pointless.
It doesn’t matter to me that people have different opinions. Happy to discuss those but when the reply is name calling, or fuck you etc. That doesn’t make for a very interesting discussion. That’s close to my entire point. If your response to what you disagree with is you’re garbage or deplorable, or a Nazi, or fascist or fuck you, you lost the argument and any chance of convincing anyone that your opinion has any merit. Same thing when you distort and take out of context and use the extremes and exceptions to support your positions. If you want to misstate a position then make your points about why it’s wrong - what’s the point of that?
