Every time a rugged individualist state level government wants to go their own way it turns out to produce outsized amounts of misery. The Texas electrical grid is my favourite example. But other examples exist as well...covid death rates by state is a good one.

The right has an app for that. It's called not reporting covid deaths at all or disbanding whatever agency would normally be in charge of counting them.

It honestly feels like they just need to suffer some shit to have some sense knocked into them. History has been forgotten.
The only question is will that sense be reestablished in-time for them to recover their democracy?

At surface level this looks self serving, but it's pretty clearly the right thing to do. If we're talking about politically motivated prosecutions, Hunter's makes the top of the list. Crimes of this type very, very rarely ever go to court and very rarely carry significant penalty. There's a 0.0% chance a Trump DOJ would have left him alone and it would have been entirely due to him being a Biden. They've had years and spent millions in investigations and found nothing of consequence towards the stated purpose for the investigation.
