Unfortunately can’t expect this level of introspection or integrity from alito or Thomas, but hopefully the other 7 justices recognize the gravity before them and that they might be the only bulwark between the ppl and tyranny.

This would normally mean that their approval ratings will sink ahead of the midterms or even ahead of 2028. Why are they so concerned with this metric when the whole objective is to crush democracy and never have elections again? There are no Republican congressman or senators pushing back on these policies especially those that are up for reelection in 2026. Hence my confusion with him lying about the Biden inflation.

At the rate they're going, the US won't have a functioning democracy by the time.the midterms roll around. Theyll have an election, but it'll be rigged and the GOP will still control everything.

It's naked extortion at this point. The US has provided ~86 billion in aid to Ukraine (much more has been promised, but not delivered to date) and a lot of that somewhat inflated in value (as it represented a lot of dead equipment stock the US was set to decommission within the next few years) and Trump is demanding 500 Billion dollars in mineral wealth to repay 86 Billion dollars in aid.

At this point, Ukraine needs to deny the extortion, let Trump's negotatian bullshit play out but insist that they won't settle for less than 2021 borders, full sovereignty, no disarming, and immediate EU membership as their terms and when Russia refuses, send a steady and consistent stream of drones at Russian energy infrastructure until it's all rubble. The US spent 18 months wagging their finger at Ukraine over targeting Russian energy infrastructure, and Ukraine played ball under the assumption that keeping the US onboard would keep the aid pipeline open. If all that's earned them is a 6 to 1 extortion demand, fuck them, rain fire.
