OT: American Politics

I fully agree with this. All I said is that we're in the early part of this process, just like we're in the early part of this current Trump Administration.

And yes, the video from El Salvador is horrible. But the argument seems to be why didn't the courts and the world do anything, and the answer is because it just happened. That process has only started to play out. And stop misconstruing my point, it is very possible that we lose this one.

Teslas are fun to drive and definitely got ahead of the curve in terms of function and design. But these gazillionaires would never actually choose to drive a Tesla - the ev for the middle class.

The courts did do something - the admin just ignored it.

That makes more sense. I wish we were at least in the first inning of the resistance.

and this is kind of what I'm getting at. Large scale protests are the beginning of the resistence, not the end. That we're not seeing them yet is where my concern comes from and speaks to a pretty deep apathy among Americans.

I keep seeing Americans on Blueski try to explain away their lack of protests when they've been compared to Serbians recently. But "only" 55% of Serbians "do not trust" Vucic and we're seeing massive protests in Belgrade that represent about 1/3rd the population of the city.

Trump's disapproval is a little lower than that nationally...but regionally is quite a bit higher in a lot of places, and we're not seeing 400,000 Americans locking down their city, nevermind 1/4 of the urban population there. The Veterans protest in DC a few days back is estimated at 3-4K and they wonder why they're not getting a ton of media. 10x that show up at dawn in every city in American on Sunday to eat ribs in a parking lot and wait for a football game to start. Call me when they start taking this seriously, until then they're complicit.

Yeah, I think the only uncertain thing is whether this judge wants to be a martyr (in which case he’ll hold them in contempt and won’t last long after that) or whether he backs down out of fear.
