OT: American Politics

I wasn't referring to you specifically, I don't remember exactly what started the debate. I do know Mindz was upset there weren't more mass protests and my thought was that it's still pretty early and there have already been a number of protests. Trump got 77 million votes and there is a massive disinformation campaign down there combined with an incredible amount of ignorance and cognitive dissonance. It's only been 2 months was my point. There will be more and they will grow exponentially.

We can see from Republican town halls that people are reacting pretty strongly, to the point that there are going to be fewer Republican town halls going forward. I think Tesla probably is finished as a brand. The attack on millions of federal workers is going to have a similar effect to covid, in that many apolitical people on the right, even those with their heads in the sand, are going to be made aware of what's going on because a friend or family member is affected.

The attacks on habeus corpus and judges is a sign that things are escalating quickly. You were right to be upset about it, it's sick and it's evil. My only point here is that this will lead to a legal battle that is going to take months if not years. It's interesting that John Roberts has already weighed in. It's not going to be resolved overnight, and we aren't going to win every battle.
The gangbang is only going to hurt more if you keep showing small hints of optimism. Best to just relent.

Bruh. One of these is the Jumpman logo. For fuck's sake.

Fair point, although he was playing pretend president at Mar-a-Lago and didn't have the power of the presidency at that point, some of the stuff he was "negotiating" is relevant now, for sure. And he was definitely still the leader of the Republican Party and influencing policy. I did already say it wasn't the best analogy.

it's not about the accuracy of the analogy really.

you used the analogy just as a stand in for "everyone calm down you're overreacting nothing's really even happened yet" and that is just way way wrong.

Problem is, he (more or less) had some 'training wheels' the first time around (first term). Who's going to 'rein him in' this time? He's surrounded by acoloytes or pussies now.

I think some people are just being naive at this point. Federal judges musing that they might create an armed stand off if they order the executive branch from occupying a building, flat out ignoring judges and mocking them, an administration that has threatened many times to just shoot protestors… we seem very far from this being stopped by town halls and protests and falling Tesla stocks.

I get that we are mostly on the same page re: Trump is bad but posting that Mindz sounds like WeHave and is overreacting for pointing out the direction they’re going in is kinda silly imo. He’s been accused of that so many times in this thread and it never ends up being remotely the case.

Mindz has ended up looking naive and adorbs way, way more often than wrong in this thread

There will be mass protests, and if Trump orders that the U.S. government shoot at protesters, maybe that's what it will take in the end. It's happened before ("four dead in Ohio"). If that happens though, it's going to be mass protests on steroids, because 51%+ of Americans still oppose this bullshit movement. And one would have to assume eventually impeachment will be on the table.

6-8 months ago, anyone predicting that Trump would have achieved all of this over his entire term would have been called an alarmist

I know, I just choose humor when I get anxious and things are bad. I prefer to look at the comedic side of axl getting gang raped.

Here's a question for Mindz. For the most part blue states are funding red states. That's just a fact. And of course, they're blue meaning they already don't support Trump or the right. This will get more and more pronounced with millions of people having zero interest in having a President Camacho for life. There has been talk already about California seceding, which is highly unlikely.

New York + California is a massive economic engine and huge amount of people with no interest in being subjugated by this idiocy. There must be some things that can be done here.

Wait, why would we assume this Congress would impeach and remove Trump though?

Can people actually not see the parallels to 1940s Germany in some of the things that have been happening? It really puzzles me that there are some who get upset with pointing out some of the similarities. Can they really not see them?
I think it's more that they do not want. wilful blindness. but I am just speculating. in many cases, Trumpco are worse than the Nazis
