OT: American Politics

I’ve taken issue before with the sometimes over-the-top scope, application and enforcement of Quebec’s language laws.

Still though, it strikes me as insanely arrogant to raise a trade dispute over the fact that the foreign country you want to sell your goods to requires that they be labelled in its foreign language.
What they initially proposed would have required brands to potentially change the names of their product to french unless they registered marks - which is an impediment to innovation because 1) it tips your hand (filing is public) and more importantly 2) is a 2ish year process.

But that was walked back.
