OT: American Politics

This entire class of idiots is wrong. I'm comfortable that they're wrong and will be proven wrong by the performance of the American economy over the next few years.

The thing that worries me is that they're beyond data at this point and it's basically religious to them. Their reaction to the failure is going to be dangerous imo. They're going to demand that Trump be given even more power because *insert reason why the tiny bit of domestic obstruction that is managed will be blamed and their utopia requires even more Trump...that international obstructionism is to blame and a more militarily aggressive stance to force the rest of us to take our Trump medicine is required. There will be zero internal reflection from the cult. It will be everyone else's fault that this stupidity crashed the economy.

Xtrends has been saying America is broken for years and years so it's not exactly inconsistent with his prior beliefs. Not sure he is pro or anti Trump. He just genuinely believes that America needs a hard reset. It has been the main part of his bear thesis for as long as I can remember.

He seems to have severe anger issues. I've never seen someone get so angry over lines going up and down on a chart. Chill, xTrends, chill!

Yeah. I’m pretty sure he’s one of those anti modern monetary policy dudes. (Aka stop printing too much money)

That group has been shrinking for years but he seems to be part of it. He’s probably stockpiling gold.

Like everyone else in the field, he gets a lot wrong too.

I SORT of see the rationale of a hard reset and always have. But the pain in between now and the "bottom" can never be worth it, and in the end it will only increase the wealth disparity. And this bringing jobs to America thing is nonsense.

There's some truth that they are behind China, Japan, etc on robotics and they could do a lot of work in catching up there.. but why? It likely will still be cheaper to do this work in Vietnam even after the tariffs. Nike ain't coming to America.

You catchup to china / japan manufacturing prowess through shit like the CHIPS act, not the other way around.

Hard reset on trade is pretty much the dumbest economic move ever in history.

hard resets are austerity weirdo logic because what we were doing before was morally wrong and only punishment can teach us our lesson for acting improperly. It's self flagellating bullshit mate.

If the economy is imbalanced in a certain direction, nudge the shit back on course. There's all sorts of market bending tools available to a US President. Biden was utilizing some of them with CHIPS act, student loan debt forgiveness, etc.
