OT: American Politics

The long and short of it is this....if the US can't get us and/or Mexico to crack, who in the fuck among major economies are they going to get to bend over? Not just sign a trade deal, but accept all of the trump bullshit and poison pills they're jamming into trade discussion?

They're trying to remake the world in their bullshit image using their trade and they don't get that nobody needs them as bad as they seem to insist we do.
the morons in charge just really fundamentally don't understand how anything works. but they're certain in their belief that not only do they understand, but they've figured it out in ways mere mortals could never

Note how Dotard was able to "bring back" a person like Tate but not Garcia. Too many voters in the US just don't care unfortunately.
They don't want to set a precedent since probably 95% of the people they are disappearing have done nothing criminal except be brown while in MAGA America. So instead of admitting mistakes (or, at least, instead of correcting them) they're just going to say "You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs" or "sucks to be them."

I expected bad terrible and even I undersold the reality
yeah, this has been pretty much how things have gone since 2016.

folks are concerned, justifiably. told they're overreacting. then reality is far, far worse than even the most cynical critic expected. and here we are.

your true colours are showing Gav and it's not a good look. holy.

My deepest pessimism in all of this comes from seeing how utterly useless and debased "centrist" Democrats are. There is no real help coming from them. They haven't shown the principles necessary to understand the moment and combat it, nor the competency necessary to beat it even at the game they think they're playing. Any victories will be short term, and will fail to make the structural reform necessary to roll back what has happened there. They will co opt whatever popular support the AOC-Bernie types are able to drum up and poison it with their fecklessness again, probably tilting the public deeper towards the fascists.

this, and there seems to be a floor of 40% of the population who support anything the current admin does

What’s the KPI for success in “reaching across the aisle?” Less people sent to CECOT? Less secrets shared with Putin ?

What is it ?
