The main reason I sort of like Newsom is that he's generic enough (like Biden). As much as the "radical" side of the Democrats probably should win, and would actually do a proper job in power, and the US probably needs that, I'm still worried about the US electorate not even giving them a chance, and would rather violate the constitution rather than elect a woman or someone "woke".

A Buttigieg would be perfect, and he would be a great leader, but my faith in US democracy is basically at a 0 at this point, so if it takes a boring Newsom, so be it.

I get it, but this exact thinking is what led to Biden & his other elderly establishment Dems puttering along contentedly, drunk on American exceptionalism, determined to just “go back to normal” and secure in the knowledge that Trump and American fascism were gone for good.

A Newsom presidency would be the same shit.
