I get it, but this exact thinking is what led to Biden & his other elderly establishment Dems puttering along contentedly, drunk on American exceptionalism, determined to just “go back to normal” and secure in the knowledge that Trump and American fascism were gone for good.

A Newsom presidency would be the same shit.

imo the ideal is someone who matches Newsom's normie appeal with someone who has at least one foot in the progressive side of the party. Ossoff is probably ideal right now given the choices with a profile that can plausibly win. I'd prefer AOC tbh, but I have no faith in that shitshow electing a woman after being given 2 opportunities to vote for women much more capable and competent than Trump.
