OT: American Politics

We've discussed the fairly unique slot where Habsy's business size falls under before. nothing new.

as for what you've said from day one, we can all read krauthammer ourselves to get your opinion before you know it yourself.

heh. habsy's business is "unique". hilarious. harpycare will ONLY negatively affect habsy's employees. no one else's. for everyone else its fantastic. you will stoop to anything to cheerlead for your guy.

we've been through the numbers before.

you can choose to be educated or not. I'm not going to keep teaching you the same lesson over and over again.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Liberal Niagara Falls MPP Kim Craitor resigns.

Byelection must be called in Niagara Falls by March 24th, 2014.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

But it USED to be better - like 10 years ago before the Liberals did their worst.

Yeah it was way better with hilariously underfunded hospitals, constant strikes, and everything up to and including the only major new highway in years being sold off to the highest (but still usually not very high) bidder.

Who did Highway 416 get sold off to?

it looks like someone broke this out....

no numbers we've ever been through before have demonstrated, nor CAN demonstrate, that habsy's is a "unique" american business.

yes, the numbers were broken out that specifically showed how habsy's revenue had him fall in a narrow crack between large and small businesses, which had the negative effect for him.

HEH

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...and-pac-says-it-backs-ayn-rand-not-rand-paul/

A super PAC that has been promoting Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) political career says, despite its clear affinity for the potential 2016 presidential candidate, the name "Rand" in its title refers to noted libertarian author Ayn Rand.

The super PAC made the contention in a letter to the Federal Election Commission after the FEC said that it cannot use a politician's name unless that politicians authorizes it.

"This Committee responds to its pending RFAI by noting that it is unaware that the late Ayn Rand, noted philosopher and author of Atlas Shrugged, is seeking election to federal office," the PAC says in the letter.

Pretty perfect phrasing of American Exceptionalism by Obama today, especially as it was in part a response to Putin's Op-ed:

Some may disagree, but I believe America is exceptional. In part because we have shown a willingness through the sacrifice of blood and treasure to stand up not only for our own narrow self-interests, but for the interests of all. I must be honest though, we’re far more likely to invest our energy in those countries that want to work with us, that invest in their people instead of a corrupt few, that embrace a vision of society where everyone can contribute, men and women, Shia or Sunni Muslim, Christian or Jew.

whoever wrote that better be getting paid handsomely.

It's not full of shit. I sold out because I didn't want to deal with Obamacare and owners I know are limiting hours to not have to deal with it either.

Keep thinking small business people won't do what they can to save the money. You'd be wrong.

You sold out because your business is too small to make the kind of profits needed to cover your employees with health care. I'm sure you weren't covering them before Obama won the election, and you won't start now.
Obamacare drew a line in the sand, and your size of business is skirting that line, so you simply chose to step on the cheaper side of it from your point of view. No matter, because Obamacare will be an option to your employees that they didn't have before, so the plan worked.
Now the best part.
Huge firms that rake in the money like Walmart and McDonald's now have to provide some money for health care for their employees.
It's about time.
The majority of your countrymen are not covered in any way, and it's mostly not by choice. Your insurers pull shit like "pre-existing conditions" to keep the cash for themselves, or the huge company doesn't care to provide any coverage, despite raking in the profits. That puts a huge strain on your system.
Obamacare provides at least some relief for those problems. It's not perfect, but it's far better then leaving more than half your populous dangling off a cliff.
Glad you found a way to save some profits for yourself.

You're so wrong it isn't even funny. I'll let you have your KB moment. Walk a mile.

MLK wrote that. It's paraphrased.

no numbers we've ever been through before have demonstrated, nor CAN demonstrate, that habsy's is a "unique" american business.

But it is a unique business. There are many types of restaurants, the chains will afford Obamacare, the mom and pops will do the work themselves but the restaurants that fall in the 25-40 employee range with sufficient sales (usually $1.5-3m per annum) to be viable are the ones that will most definitely be affected. Owners will increase staff size and reduce hours to fall under the threshold. Staff will get no more than 25 hours per week. What this will cause is wait staff will seek double employment. They will work 20-25 hours in one restaurant and 20-25 in another. Neither will provide healthcare.

You also forget something, I chose to sell. I did not close. I did not put my people out of work and I did not want to play the hours game with people that I came to care for. I decided to get out and let someone else do it.

I wouldn't doubt it we see a general election next April or May. It is quite outstanding that the Liberals have been able to govern with a minority for nearly 2 years now, but you'd have to think the opposition parties need to cause a taypayer funded election soon. It's starting to get embarrassing for them.
