OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

What?

He's gone through the normal channels to legally apply to buy the land.

... by putting pressure on the TRCA via his media campaign on the issue, and accosting a Star reporter he had no business harassing while covering the page six story? And now he's on about bias at the Star, when even the Globe and Mail and others are covering this story? Sure. If you say so.
The "normal" channels have not been fruitful for anybody else in twenty years, but "I'm the ****ing Mayor of this town!" The same attitude he had with 911 and the Toronto PD over a comedienne in his driveway... hilarious over reaction.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

How can you debate that nonsense? It's inaccurate and flat out made up.

He's been going through the normal channels for months, if not years, long before any of this has been in the paper.

Why would there be a media campaign AFTER the sale of the land has been approved?

Although I can only assume Ford's motives here, at no time has Ford put pressure on the TRCA regarding his property. Other things, yes, but not this.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Yeah I dislike Ford as much as the next guy but not sure what you're on about here sheep....

Richard Lugar loses the GOP primary in Indiana, another seasoned and sane Republican turfed by nutbag teabagging freaks.

I'd say that I was shocked, but I'm not. I'm just tired of being called a conspiracy theorist simply by pointing out things that are blindingly obvious.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

The TRCA isn't known for selling land they regulate.......

Neither is Oakville and yet, they do. Do you have ANY actual numbers? Facts? Is this a line you heard and repeated? From the Star no less? Have YOU ever inquired?

Before I actually had a need to inquire, I also thought that city hall never sells and yet, was stunned how easy it was. No political bribes, no lunches, no high priced lawyers, no burro'cratic blizzard of paperwork, a simply inquiry followed by a couple of discussions that made sense for everybody.

congrats to US security officials for foiling this deadly plot, thanks to the apparatus put in place by W and wisely kept intact by hopeychange.

this story so exemplifies the hypocrisy of the left. jon stewart puts an important catholic symbol up a vagina and is shocked when people are upset, and then calls people "ignorant" for being upset.

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/...y-show-ads-over-vagina-manger-skit/?hpt=hp_c2

would he dare stick a penis in a quran? what does he think would happen if he did that? they would declare jihad on him and he'd have to go into hiding. but its 100% fine for sticking a nativity scene up a vagina and people who dont like it are "ignorant".

this line is the height of arrogance and condescension:

"I'm not going to censor myself to comfort your ignorance," Stewart said, decrying what he called the cable news-fueled “outrage machine.”"

You just proved that you do nothing but parrot what you hear. Nobody stuck a catholic symbol up a vagina you ignorant moron. Why don't you assemble some facts before you spout off?

Have I inquired? No. But I do have working and inside knowledge with TRCA, where friends/colleagues keep me up to date. Plus I got to attend the exec. meeting where this application was presented, and the media provided a small proportion of the ongoings. Municipalities and CA's are different in that CA's usually deal only with environmentally sensitive/significant lands, hence why they don't sell it off except in very rare instances, and loaded with conditions.
