OT: American Politics

They've certainly had police brutality and riots in response to it under every President but damn does this guy ever know how to make things even worse.

There's almost no chance an address from him would bring any kind of calm.

The really scary part is that he believes his actions make it better.

I'm convinced he was used as a useful idiot by more than just the Russians.

By 54% of Americans and 95% of everyone else.

That particular statement though is a little unfair, even towards a raging idiot.

Only a little though.

Police brutality didn't start with Trump but you could make a pretty decent argument that the President doing a speech addressing police directly and encouraging them to be rougher to suspects during arrests contributes to the toxic mentality.

Likewise, he can't probably can't be blamed in a vacuum that coronavirus is in the US because it's everywhere. But he can be criticized for scaling back on agencies that handle pandemic preparedness, for downplaying it at almost every step, for making mask wearing or lack thereof a statement about which side you're on, for encouraging governors to open back up, for making the rules governing covid safety in churches a political fight, *takes a deep breath*, for questioning the death toll, for bleach comments, for promoting unproven drugs... am I missing things? Probably.

Even civil rights era presidents knew enough to say the bad shit in their indoor voices.

Johnson was virulently racist, and dropped N bombs casually...casually in closed door conversations according to dozens of sources, but even he knew enough to scrub his public statements. Nixon similar.

Trump is out here quoting people on the wrong side of civil rights history on twitter ffs. On one hand it's refreshing to see someone too stupid to know better in a position of power, shining a light on the problem (can't kill a cockroach if you can't find it, right?)...on the other it's severely disappointing that we're in 2020 and this shit is still prevalent.

I like it, but do the national polls really matter? Biden's gonna win the popular vote by a whole bunch like Hillary did I'd imagine. I like that he's ahead in most of the MI, PA, WI, AZ polls and close in NC, GA, FL more.
