OT: American Politics

The word selection really says a lot.

Fair to say those who are seen looting and starting fires should be arrested. Their limbs should not be broken and they should not be shot at while fleeing.

You don't have to own anything to know this is wrong. And maybe the fact that most of you probably don't and may not expect to is why you're feeling kinda warm and fuzzy and enjoying what you saw unfold on television.

Enjoying is the wrong word. But there was a certain feeling of justice when that police station went up in flames.

That was the straw that broke the back, of course. But even if it's ten thousand dead guys, this is not an acceptable response.

You're truly an awful person.

This violence and fucking domestic terrorism is never the response to anything, no matter what.

You're a fucking idiot if you can't acknowledge that.

That's exactly right. But seems like the majority of the idiots here believe violent destruction and looting on a large scale that victimizes innocents are appropriate responses.
Out of curiosity, would you care to hazard a guess as to the percent population that looted? I'll wait.

Are you fucking joking? You want to turn this into percentages? There were thousands upon thousands of people in the biggest cities in the US who were trying to burn and steal everything in sight - WITH a curfew in place and the entire police force in the streets.

Appropriate ≠ Understandable

I don't approve of the looting, but I understand. People are angry. The black community has been fucked over for hundreds of years. Denied basic rights. Unfairly targeted and denied due process in many cases. Subjected to police brutality. At some point people just can't take it anymore. The looting and rioting is just collateral damage and opportunistic assholery at this point. But it's nowhere near the larger issue at hand.

That's right. The larger issue is weeding out the rotten minority in law enforcement and bringing them to justice. You don't accomplish that by destroying private property and risking innocent lives. To just forgive it as some unfortunate byproduct is ridiculous.

Why is this an argument? I personally hate both racist cops and violent/looting protesters

All of this is correct but I'm not going to pretend I'm better than those looting. I can't. I've never been in their situation and never will so who knows how I'd react if I was? This white man looking down on this type of behavior is part of the problem. They should be punished, they should have consequences for their actions, but at the end of the day they've been through some shit that none of us will ever understand even if we pretend to. So saying they deserve to be shot and shit is a bit fucking harsh. Let's tackle the root of the problem for once.

Again, for LOF, they should obviously be arrested. No one has ever said they shouldn't be. Both the blacks and several whites who have been looting should absolutely be arrested.

Saw a post about anonymous earlier. apparently they are popping off on Twitter today, but I'm not really a twatter so haven't looked yet. Anyone see anything?

Um, Anonymous accused Trump of having Epstein killed and said the blackmail Russia has on Trump is related to sex trafficking. Like, directly... he tweeted at him and threatened to release information.

He also threatened to release information on the Minneapolis Police Department and apparently knocked their website offline.

No idea about the validity of any of it but yeah...

Yeah my friend said apparently they put out that the royal family had Diana killed as well.

Validity will always be the argument here.

Thousands and thousands in cities of millions.

There are idiots everywhere.

I think you're missing the point, when faced with the issue of property vs death, death is far more important. Trying to put down a riot will cause more death. Using civil resources to protect property takes those valuable resources away from protect life.

You're making it out to be that people here think it's ok to loot, pretty sure nobody feels that way, they just understand prioritizing limited resources hence standard operating procedures.

What are you arguing against? My statement that there are way more malicious and dangerous people out there than I previously thought? Your percentages don't have any relevance to that.

And no one is choosing property over death. I don't even know what the fuck some of you are talking about anymore.
