OT: American Politics

I do agree that nothing will probably be done...though my own theory is that at some point there will be a quiet talk with trump and a mountain of evidence, at which talk it will be suggested that maybe trump does not in fact, want to run again.
Why wouldn't he run? By 2024 Congress will be controlled by the GOP and the Jan. 6th Committee will have long since been shut down. Trump also knows that the GOP has the key states rigged in such a way that he can't lose in 2024, even if he loses. And once he's back in power the Fulton County DA is getting locked up.

Firing a POC and replacing them with a conservative white woman who's father should have gone to prison is not a good look nor is it a winning strategy.

Not to mention Biden running for a second term at 82 years of age would be insane.

These tottering Democratic senior citizens need to get the hell of center stage already, head off to the retirement home and let the next generations take over.

Yeah, they need a fresh mindset, someone who is a real Democrat as opposed to a corporate left wing Republican. Someone like Bernie only younger, but not as young as the members of "The Squad".

while I agree, who exactly is this next generation that is ready to take over? part of the problem, they have neglected their pipeline for years! :p

Mayor pete
Kamala
Newsome
Katie porter
AOC
both GA senators

The dems have lots of talent in the pipeline they just need to learn how to give them a National platform in the same way that Reid did for Obama in 2004.

No idea! I don’t follow US politics closely enough to be able to put together any kind of list.

But if “the world’s greatest democracy” has nothing on the bench behind geriatrics like Biden, Pelosi & Schumer, then they really are well and truly fucked.

Stacey Abrams is a ninja.

There’s also Hakeem Jeffries, Beto, the ex-CIA officers (names escape), Connor Lamb, etc.

They have people.

The young Dems need to stage a coup of their own. The geriatric dems are in the process of holding democracy down while the Republicans cut its throat.

I kind of like Beto but feel it's a little too small town....but with some maturity he could win over people

Val Demings is a strong candidate. Gavin Newsom is very interesting.

The bigger question is what to do about Kamala Harris. Probably not interested in being somebody else's VP, so it's top of the ticket or bust. But is she a strong enough candidate to win?
