OT: American Politics

I think he also built some credibility early because until 2016 or whatever he appeared to be a serious person and his first foray into pop culture was what looked like a principled stand.

but, the hill he chose to die on was ridiculous (gender pronouns), he got addicted to his celebrity - and drugs - and the inner crank very clearly shone through.

I’ve honestly never bothered listening to or reading really anything that Peterson’s had to say since he became a public figure.

I became aware of him when he launched his war against gender neutral pronouns & became a darling of the Sun & the National Post, but didn’t look more into him at the time.

Then I finally read one of his articles in the wake of the incel van attack in Toronto. And in that article, he argued that something he termed “enforced monogamy” was his cure for incel violence. In practice, that’d involve forcibly pairing up unmarried women in monogamous marriages with incels.

At that point, I decided that he wasn’t a serious person, and that I didn’t really give two shits about his thoughts on any topic.

Not sure what I found more laughable -- Peterson''s word salad or Rogan's guttural "hmmmmmmms" as if they were both on the cusp of meaningful intellectual orgasm.

they pulled off quite the unintentional but perfect self parody

basically... he hit celeb status (for a prof) and it almost killed him....life is strange

To be fair, the backlash he got from the woke student mob was over the top. They only want to silence him rather than debate him. That's a problem on too many college campuses these days.
