The absolute, absolute minimum that the west needs to be doing here is crippling Moscow economically. Russian stock index is down 13% today (17% over the last 5 days, 25% over the last 6 months) but I don't know how much that matters, the monied class in Russia has their assets as far away from Putin's grasp as possible. The sanctions need to come hard and painful more or less immediately.
