The one thing I'll say about this is that I'd caution anyone who takes too much comfort in the fact that Trump is a buffoon.

History, both recent and ancient, is full of authoritarians, dictators and monarchs who were complete fucking buffoons, but nonetheless bumblefucked their way into absolute power through a combination of leveraging their few strengths, lots of luck and the feckless incompetence of their political opponents. And then went on to be the authors of an incalculable amount of human misery.

We need to do away with this idea the tyrants become tyrants because they outsmart all of their opposition.
 
You don't have to convince me. But 77 million people voted for him just a few months ago. Some of them just now learning the depths of his depravity.
