no you guys are acting like Don Jr. is out there tossing a hood over Seth Abramson's head and throwing him in the back of a van. And I'm saying while that may happen, it certainly hasn't happened yet.

Isn't it fair to say that Donald Trump's ego cares more about his approval ratings than he does about ideology? I think he cares way more about that stuff than any other politician. And they care about it quite a lot.

No, we're acting like the US is disappearing people they don't like into Gulag's and ignoring court orders telling them not to.

Because they are, and they intend to do a lot more of it.

In 2018, sure. In 2025 he doesn't seem to give a fuck. When his base went nuts over H1-B visas he told them to stfu and they just jettisoned the brown guy from Doge. Social Security has been the 3rd rail of American politics for 70 years and he's clearly gunning for it through Elon, etc, etc.

He's not at all acting like someone who cares about approval ratings, and that should be the scariest part of this really, considering that yes, he's an epic narcissist who has stopped caring about getting his narcissistic supply from the public. Whose approval is he after now?

Again, you are misconstruing what I am saying. This situation is really bad, and should be treated as such. We're really not that far off.
 
I get that “let’s all calm down and not worry about something that hasn’t happened yet” works in like 99% of situations in life, but I feel like in authoritarian governments that is exactly the type of outlook that is taken advantage of every single time. There is a very clear pattern here and I’m gobsmacked people think this will all go away without pretty dark shit happening first.

I’m gonna drop this for now and let this continue to play out.
 
Again, you guys are misunderstanding what I'm saying. I am pretty sure this will lead to a Constitutional crisis eventually. But that is not happening tomorrow.

And if you think this won't also lead to mass protests and a vicious legal fight, you're wrong.
