what's with this weird fantasy all the maga people on twitter seem to have that they'll be able to *checks notes* overpower the US military if need be with their guns? and... they think it's democrats, the party that's just rolled over for them as they elect their christian fascists who are slowly eroding rights across the country.

Yeah this idea that an untrained citizen with a semi auto can take on the trained military with tsnks is really bizarre.

Yes, it's called the sexual revolution. That's what's been happening for the last 50 years. Access to birth control and abortion tends to thin the herd, which is why evangelicals are foursquare against it. Of course, they'd be much better off at only restricting access to contraception and abortion to their own flocks while encouraging the practice of contraception and abortion for the minorities they fear and loathe. But thinking was never their strong suit.

Except that it will backfire on them because if there's one thing conservatives hate more than abortion it's black and brown people. But making abortion illegal will only result in more black and brown babies being born, speeding up the inevitable day when they outnumber whites (who, of course, will still be able to get abortions on the down low, as they always did)

Yeah, I'm not sure why you thought I needed this explanation.

I'm talking about why Elon Musk brought up fertility rates seemingly out of nowhere today.

Musk is simply currying favor with people who, until recently, distrusted him because they thought his owning an electric car company meant that he was a communist.
