OT: American Politics

On their channel they have expressed disdain for how much money the far right guys make on YouTube. His co-host has announced that she has left the left. It's a steady move to the right for $$ purposes.

It's fairly simple. The same low effort rage bait that cashes in huge on the right, doesn't work nearly as well on the left. You actually have to do research, while being interesting or funny. It's a bit of a problem for the left tbh when it comes to how progressive modern media needs to reorganize itself to be a relevant counterbalance now that corporate media has picked it's side and it aint their side. Bluesky is actually a good start there. I'd like to see long form stuff like substack coalesce into something more organized as well and a huge focus get put on tiktok and youtube.

Back in the 60's when the Boomers were getting a higher education basically for free, they had plenty of spare time on their hands to protest the Vietnam War. This problem was solved by making a college education nearly impossible to afford and by slashing grants and scholarships so that only the already rich (the ones who protest nothing unless there's a draft, which the US ended in 1972) could afford college. The middle class kids who went were so saddled with debt both during and after college that they had no time to protest a damn thing because they were busy working 2 jobs to pay off their loans.

Yes we know the 43% base voted for self serving and unqualified billionaires like Musk and Bobby to run the government but the thought is towards the last 5 percent or so.

The "uncommitted" folks already begging the current admin to step in after all the noise they created.

What will the next big group to turn? Actually seeing what mass deportations look like, maybe the Latinos turn. Actually seeing anti vaxer cause diseases in schools, parents will. Etc. We'll see.
