OT: American Politics

There is a terrible lack of "mind your fucking business" in society in general I find. I have zero problem with well behaved children in "adult" spaces for the most part. I do though have significant problems with parents who let their children run around and use those spaces like it's the neighbourhood fucking park because active parenting is annoying or something.
same same, but for pets too.

I now have to avoid a public park on my morning walk with the girls cause there's a group of owners who let their dogs run off leash without supervision or control. infuriating as its one of the few public garbage cans I pass on this route. and the city just does not enforce these bylaws before 8 am.

You either know, or you don't know

That was an "organized" activity when I was growing up. Put a hoop on the ground and toss dangerous pieces of metal in the air at it as a group.
lawn darts?

Having a kid only reinforced what I already knew: you should only have a kid if you really, really want a kid.

I do appreciate patience and understanding from non-parents. Only way to teach them how to behave in public is to take them out in public. I appreciate a sympathetic smile or nod to ease my anxiety about ruining your day while I'm getting the little gremlin in line, or alternatively, fireman carrying him out the door if needed. And fuck everything about handing them a tablet or a phone in a restaurant.
I suspect you are not part of the problem

A fellow survivor I see.
oh man, it's pretty funny.

when I was attending overnight camp, I heard the stories from my dad's days (leaving kids outside at night, naked, holding boots filled with water; toothpaste up the butthole, etc.). and I remember thinking even then, that was nuts.

I also remember as a like 12 year old being woken up in the middle of the night by my counsellor, who just got back from a town night completely hammered.

now, stuff that happened when I was a camper, or stuff that I did as a staff member gets you fired in the blink of an eye. times are a changin, always.
