OT: American Politics

Kinda wonder if the USA is setting themselves up for attacks (whatever the new 9/11 coukd be) by focussing so many resources on this + getting rid of any democratic/female/lgbt individuals from their defenses.
Yeah, fighting with Iran while threatening Canada, Greenland, Panama and also deploying the military domestically doesn’t seem like a great plan to me.

They're also in the middle of injecting more corruption into their procurement. One of the quiet line items that has been...adjusted...over the last few months is an office called the DOT&E. It's a unified office that sets the standards for military testing. So while the individual branches do their own testing as part of procurement, the DOT&E spells out what makes a valid test, how results are to be compiled and reported, etc.

A major reason for the runaway military budget in the US is the amount of things that were previously done by a civilian bureaucracy at the pentagon, are now done by civilian contractors at much, much higher costs. Having testing standards and standardization of data thrown out the window (DOT&E had their budget cut by 80%) means that the individual branches will do their own testing their own way, which really means that the tests will be done in ways to ensure that the programs they want generate the right testing data to justify inclusion in the budget. Testing will become more and more political (which is already the problem the DOT&E was created in the 80's to combat against) and more and more albatross programs that are politically helpful for "insert powerful Senator here" will keep getting funding.

This is taking the US military's existing procurement problems and putting them on steroids.

Meanwhile, under cover of all the war war and militarized police state, the grift goes on:

You might ask, why public? Because no one in the private/alternative investment ecosystem will touch such an obvious grift. No, it’s better to market it to clueless maga retail pigeons who will swallow anything linked to Dotard and take the steep losses as they did with TrumpCoin.
