OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Can someone tell Bruce Arthur to shut the fuck up? He's mad that the NACI told the truth? Nonstop hyperbolic meltdowns with that guy.

who is that guy and why was he trending on twitter yesterday?
He's a Toronto Star journalist that melts down for a living. No idea why he was trending but it was probably covid related. I agree with the direction he takes (anti Dougie Ford) but he's incredibly hyperbolic and needs to breathe and pick his spots better!!!!

I don't think he's wrong though - NACI docs shouldn't be giving interviews saying things like "What if it was my sister who got AZ and died, I wouldn't be able to live with myself".

Explain exactly what the risk is based on the facts.

Their job is to make recommendations. Their recommendation is to wait for an mRNA vaccine if you can. Their job is not public health communication for the country. Brucie and others want them to say to get whatever vaccine you are offered but based on the facts they believe that's not advisable. It would be great if there were no risks. But there are. So they communicated that because it's their job.

Edit: oh I wasn't talking about his reaction to the interview. Yeah that wasn't ideal.

This is actually the exact opposite take you had re the Costco pharmacist.

Their job is to make recommendations based on facts -- saying there is a risk and people need to take this into consideration is perfectly acceptable. Going on TV and making emotional arguments about being scared your family member is going to croak does seem very irresponsible though.

They did though. I didn't see the interview till after the post. That wasn't ideal, I agree. I was referring to his reaction to the recommendation itself. He's mad because it doesn't suit what he wants. But the science supports it.

Wonder if any of the leafs have homes in halton (tavares maybe) because they can book a vaccination starting on the 10th.

Presto cannot be expected to keep track of his takes

But the pharmacist didn't have a review based on data on the product before she told everyone that they don't want it!!! The NACI did!!!! Science made the decision!!!! #dealwithit

NACI made a decision based on science and then a NACI doctor went on CTV to IMO, undermine that with poorly communicated emotional rationale about if her sister was to die. Don't think Arthur should complain about the former but the latter is kinda shitty. Especially since thousands of 40+ers just went out and got jabbed with AZ, gonna make people freak out.

Yeah I didn't see the interview thing till after. That was horrible communication. I wasn't talking about that.

So I've asked the family regarding this mixing and matching vaccination strategy. None of us would be comfortable with it if Canada is alone or almost alone in going that route. Considering we are Uber locked down, all work from home, no kids in school, grocery delivered etc we would simply wait for our next Pfizer shot.

Thoughts on this?
