People on fb buy/sell groups are praising my county and its neigbouring county for doing such a good job on Coronavirus!
Our county has 0 reported cases! The neighbouring county only has 1! Great job people, we beat Coronavirus!
What they seem to just ignore is that our county has 0 reported tests completed, while the neighbouring county has only conducted 25 tests to date (1 positive, 14 negative and 10 pending for about 4 days). Of course it looks good right now.
Our county actually has the threat level from the virus as low (since 0 confirmed cases). I think this is causing people to relax in their social distancing. Not great.

Lockdown
Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing.

Unfortunately in Vancouver, the weather has been great (which leads to alot of knuckleheads on the beaches, parks, etc).

USA is now 3rd in confirmed cases. It’s times like these I’m glad that children are largely unaffected by this. I’ve been spending quality time with my son and daughter, rediscovering the joy of board games. I hope you all enjoy your family time as we push through this together.

My grandfather took me to a game when I was a wee tyke to see this guy. He took a slap shot. Marvin Edwards, the Toronto goalie, deflected it, and it ripped off a womans face two rows in front of me. Horrific to watch. Guy had a shot from hell. No press on it either. She was paid off well apparently.

We have nearly 8,500 tests pending in Ontario.

This is why I don't think mass testing would be good here. When the tests take this long it defeats the purpose. We need to get the SK test which has a quick turnaround otherwise it's a complete waste of time what Ontario is currently doing.

It's very clear they need to either speed the fuck up with these tests, or change them as soon as humanly possible.
