OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

weve hardly reopened. Golf courses and some public spaces reopened. Curbside pickup isn’t reopening things or sending a signal that we can sit in a park with 10k others.

That Gibbs guy blaming ford for people going to TBP is a joke. Those people are dumbasses, selfish and devoid responsibility and accountability.

we both know that, but you might want to tell gibby
I'll agree BUT Gibby's main point was that Ford still hasn't come up with a testing and tracing plan. We're almost in June. It's just about time to come up with a plan imo.

I think other provinces managed to get their cases down to a level that their testing and tracing abilities justified the easing of restrictions and Ontario just followed suit regardless of whether they were in the same place or not.
When you say Ontario, it really is only the GTA. Waterloo region has gone a week without a death. They almost could separate out the GTA. Might be more effective to focus resources and energy.

If you open up everywhere outside the GTA, I think people would just... drive outside of the GTA, no? I mean, the Premier definitely would.

The wife and I are moving to Pittsburgh to live with her 75 year old dad. Her mom passed away last July so he's been alone ever since. He's got a few friends that he had been spending time with but was very lonely. Now with everything happening he's been cooped up all alone for month.

We're both out of work due to the pandemic, so it seemed like the right time to head to Pittsburgh while being able to collect unemployment to make it easier financially. Of course it could be pretty tough to find work right now... something will happen.

Looking forward to getting out of Texas. Too freakin hot.
Pittsburgh is a beauty place to live too. Congrats and hopefully we can connect when we are in town for a Steelers Game.

Jesus why the hell would anyone drive to Kitchener. Better off in quarantine. But seriously, would someone really drive from Toronto to KW to play on the local park swings?

... yeah, I don't think they'd drive to Kitchener to... play on park swings? But I think certain people would have no issue driving slightly outside the GTA if the Ontario government were treat it differently than the rest of Ontario and say, open patios and restaurants ahead of us.

Can't travel? No biggie. Get a hotel with a group of guys and go clubbin in Barrie or some shit. That would be a thing I reckon.

Patios and restaurants are one thing...relaxing local parks and other isolation requirements across an entire massive land mass such as Ontario is another. GTA seems to be where the mess is centered. Seems odd that Kincardine kids cannot play on a park swing or go to the library.

On the flipside, its nuts to see 100s of people lined up at the Lowes in north york....

That’s the problem. Folks paid a steep price, now they want their summer. I’m disappointed with the utter lack of imagination... hanging out at Trinity. You had 2 months to think of a fun thing to do and that’s the smartest/coolest thing you come up with?

what is so special about that park?
does toronto not have any green space? like school yards?

big park in a prime hipster/ close to downtown location (queen west)

Toronto is lacking in parks with size. High Park is the biggest but it’s in a very residential/boring hood so skews much older and is family oriented

One thing you learn pretty quickly as a dog owner downtown is that Toronto actually has plenty of green space. Just within a 15-20 minute walk from my front door, there’s at least seven different parks I can think of, off the top of my head.

There’s also no shortage of soccer pitches, baseball diamonds and other wide-open green spaces where people could really spread out.

So even though TB is the nicest and biggest park in the West end, I can’t really fathom why anyone would pack in there when it was already so crowded instead of going elsewhere.

Fucking hipsters.
