I just came back from Lavanderia and dude, what a place.
It's a restaurant owned by Antonio Park, the same guy who owns Park. It's literally right next door to Park. It has an Argentine / Spanish style of food and man oh man, that place was awesome. Ate like a pig and everything was so ****ing good.
@CH1, When are you coming to Montreal? Because there was a notice on Park & Lavanderia are both going to be closed for 2-3 weeks at the end of July & into early August. So if that's the time frame you're coming & you were planning on going to Park, you might be out of luck.

in town starting next Saturday for just for Laughs. I tempted by Lavanderia (loved Park) especially after your review, but the location is a bit out there considering I'm staying in Mile End and many of the comedy shows are downtownish.
Places I will hit for sure are Vin Papillon, Hotel Herman and Tuck Shop.

Never been. It's not far from where I live and my dad owns a sixplex around the area (actually, his sixplex is a 60 second walk from Tuck Shop), but I've never actually been. I might go one day, but I'm not really a taco person.

I'm not a gala guy (find them boring/tedious). My big shows will be Bill Burr and Patton Oswalt. And then I'll load up on the more indie acts with my pass (Jeff Ross roasting competition, Kindler alternative nights and other Off-JFL acts)

Heading up in November with about six other guys to watch the Habs slaughter the Bruins. Usual places to eat like the Bar B Barn or Gibby's. Can anyone recommend any alternatives?

It's been years since I've been to Gibby's. Last time was still quite good, both food and atmosphere. Even longer since I've been to Moishe's. Any other recommendations for a good steak dinner for a guys night out? We're all in our forties and don't mind a bit extra price if the food is top notch.

If you're looking for a steakhouse, Moishes is my #1 choice. I haven't been to everywhere on Montreal, but it's pretty much established as one of the go-to places if you want steak. There's also Gibby's, Tuck Shop has a really good steak but I felt like a dummy for taking it because the rest of their menu is amazing. Same for Joe Beef, although I shared a huge-ass steak for two with my younger brother. I've never actually been, but there's La Queue de Cheval as well but it's a little more expensive than Moishes. Rolex goes out more than me, so maybe he has some other suggestions of places with top notch steaks.
(If you want to go to Joe Beef, reserve waaaaaay in advance, because it's booked 2-3 months ahead of time. Tuck Shop you're usually okay if you reserve a week ahead of time.)

Moishes/Gibbys/Rib 'n Reef are the best in Montreal in my opinion.

For classic premium steakhouse, I'd go to Moishes.
However, if the group has never been to Pied De Cochon, I recommend you go there. Forget steak and order something decadent with foiegras.
This thread reminds me that steakhouses are not really a Montreal thing. At least not compared to
Chicago or NYC.
