No one in the Leagues with quite as harsh as ours. Also we will all buy a brick to help pay for it...right?
 
Minneapolis has weather every bit as harsh if not worse than Montreal. They didn't put a roof on their new stadium after being under a dome for 30 years.
 
Montreal could live without a roof. To me it comes down to the costs. If the roof is going to be 300M extra, then pass. But if you can add a roof for like 150M? That would probably be "worth it".
 
The retractable roof is a luxury, something that would be very nice indeed but that Montreal could ultimately live without.

Exactly. Sure you can live without a roof, but it would be so much better with one. Has to be retractable though or no cigar.

Oh yeah. A fixed closed roof is a non-starter. A new team would be dead on arrival if you build another dome, downtown or not.
 
We need a roof because it will keep construction companies in business in Quebec. That way we can pay them to repair it every 5-10 years because it would have been shoddily built like every other piece of infrastructure in this province.
