OT: MLB Thread

Super 70s Sports
‏Today in 1971, Vida Blue becomes the youngest player to ever win an MVP & claims the AL Cy Young as well.

MLB Communications ‏
Josh Donaldson has been named the 2015 AL MVP, joining George Bell (1987) as the only winners in @BlueJays history.

awesome

joey bats was 8th
price was 9th
edwing was 12th

4 guys in the top 12 of MVP voting is quite amazing. 1/3 of the top MVP getters were Toronto Blue Jays.

Other than AA rejecting the 5 year deal this offseason has gone perfectly for Jays fans so far.

1) Picked up the options on Dickey, Edwin and Bautista
2) Named LaCava interim GM.
3) Signed Estrada to a very team (and player) friendly contract (biggest signing of any team so far this off-season).

Next they need to sign a legit #2 and piece for the bullpen and we're a legit WS contender.

XXX (hopefully Shark or Zimmerman)
Estrada
Dickey
Hutch/Sanchez

Hendricks
Loup
Cecil
Hutch/Sanchez
Osuna

Revere
Donaldson
Bautista
Edwin
Tulowitzki
Martin
Colabello/Smoak
Pillar
Goins (hopefully Travis)

It's just amazing how loaded this team is on offence.

Times safely on base

Lou Brock 3,833
149 HR & 45.2 WAR

Tony Gwynn 3,955
135 HR & 68.8 WAR

Tim Raines 3,977
170 HR & 69.1 WAR

Lou Brock would have to return to baseball and steal 762 consecutive bases without being caught to pass Tim Raines in SB efficiency.

Rickey Henderson would have to return to baseball and steal 448 consecutive bases without being caught to pass Tim Raines in SB efficiency.

And yet for some reason they keep telling us that Raines is only a "maybe" for the HOF.

Brock did not have a single season in which he stole bases as efficiently as Rock did throughout his entire career.

Tim Raines is the only player in baseball history to steal at least 70 bases in six consecutive seasons (1981-86).

Tim Raines had 978 combined home runs and stolen bases in his career. This is how he stacks up all-time...

No to Zimmerman. I for some weird ass reason don't think he would do anything to earn the contract he will sign. Just have a bad feeling

Hopefully price will re sign. If not Shark would be a good #2.
