OT: MLB Thread

I don't even blame the guys pre 2004.

Baseball didn't test for the drugs... Bud Selig and the owners turned a blind eye to obvious PED use cause McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, etc... setting records was making them money and bringing in fans after the 1994 strike.

They are the ones who created that environment and condoned the drug usage for many years.

And if we are going to keep those guys out of the Hall of Fame, we better go back to the 60s and get all the "greenies" or amphetamine users too, cause those are PEDs too.

Stop with the silly comparisons. It is not the same thing. Would you say Carey Price should be banned from the HHOF for his use of cocaine in his early years?

Raines has no link to PEDs, and his credentials are rock-solid for the Hall. He won't make it this year, but I think his case is building a strong momentum that I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the high-60s this year, and then he should have enough to get over the 75 threshold next year in his last chance. Especially if they keep updating the voters lists to kick out the useless voters, that should only help him.

Unproven.

And never once reported by a reliable source.

lol for those in the club scene there were many reliable people who have said that..and no one will name names obviously (let's just say opera/globe)...Anyways, it's probably just rumors right? lol ..

I think Raines should get in.

But I also think Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Clemens should be in too.

I disagree. Amphetemines don't enhance performance. All they do is keep you awake and jittery after a night of debauchery. PED's allow you to excel. All greenies do is allow you to function.

"there were many reliable people, but no one will name names......"

again... i repeat my assertion, "never once reported by a reliable source."

And yes, until you have a reliable source willing to name names, it is just rumors.

What you think is irrelevant, when the doctors and scientists who make the list of banned substances call them PEDs

Definitely think Bonds, A-Rod, etc, should get into the Hall of Fame.

Give them their own wing with an asterisk if you have to, but they're two of the best players to ever play the game.

McGwire and Clemens lied to Congress. No way should he get in. As Richard Nixon could tell you, it isn't using PED's, it's trying to cover it up after the fact that burns you.

I think that while there isn't anything you can do about players who are already in the Hall, there should be a rule that you can't get in if you're an asshat. A-Rod, Bonds, McGwire and Clemens are all asshats and should therefore be disqualified.

Why were a bunch of congressmen yapping about them anyway?

They weren't yapping about them. They were asking them direct questions about their PED usage. They all stonewalled or, in Sosa's case, pretended that they couldn't speak English. They're lucky they didn't have to face perjury charges. Lying to Congress usually gets you jail time (unless of course you are an elected member of said Congress)

Why was congress even involved other than pontificating. None of them cared.

People who are in "the club scene" are, by definition, the complete opposite of reliable.

In Xpo's fantasy world, Price, Jagr and Kovalev spend Saturday nights in the VIP lounge at Chez Paree snorting coke off of a stripper's ass.
