OT: MLB Thread

Blue Jays jersey everywhere in Toronto, people of Toronto finally got something to cheer for after so many miserable years in pro sport lol

The Jays won the division by going on a torrid pace from the end of July onward. Of course the problem is trying to figure out if the Jays are as good as their second half record. Some teams are good and others are just hot for a while. But hot streaks cannot be sustained over the long haul and the Jays are overdue for a letdown. All it takes is a three game losing streak (or losing 3 out of 5) and the whole thing comes crashing down.

The 2001 Mariners posted one of the best records in baseball history with 116 wins. But they were eliminated from the playoffs with a 4-6 record. They barely beat Cleveland and were then obliterated by the Yankees.

Hopefully the Jays suffer a similar fate so we can all be spared of having to hear about them incessantly. Although with football and hockey going on it will be somewhat easier to ignore them.

It is true that they can still lose, but you have to admit that they are looking good. I have to agree with you on the media though. TSN this morning is like a 60 minute commercial for the Jays. Imagine if the Leafs get to the Stanley Cup final...

All this clinching and celebrating makes me look forward to the day the Expos are back and they clinch their first division title as the returned team.

Especially if they are in the AL EAST, it might be your great great great grandkids that will be celebrating. Boston,TOR,NY will all have payrolls double what the expos will be able to put out.

Stop always being negative. I'm sure people told Bill Gates he was wasting his time too.

This isn't a hot-streak. The Jays are legit. Their team is loaded with multiple year all-stars in Bautista, Donaldson, Tulowitzki, Martin and Price. They are a major threat to win the world series and every major USA station knows and is prepared for it.

Don't let the facts get in the way of its fantasy. Hell the Expires only won a single bastardized division in 35 yrs.

If they don't will be a choke job of epic proportions.

I hate being told I am unpatriotic for not wanting them to win. Since I hated them on July 1, no reason to change on October 1.
