I never watched How I Met Your Mother, but Friends was a great show.Friends got a bad rap for not being "cool" or edgy but it really was a good show. IMO the best network sitcom since Seinfeld was How I Met Your Mother.
The Friends hate was due to it being so overexposed. I mean one of the major magazines in the mid 90's declared David Swimmer the next big movie sensation. It got tiresome. One thing I can give friends credit for it seems to have captured multiple generations... My daughter's watched every episode and she's in her twenties now and I'm pretty sure that's when I watched it or at least when it was on I didn't watch it that much
Cosby Show was a terrible show.
Man I thought Friends was objectively shit, but I acknowledge there is value in a show that makes one "comfortable". That's largely what sitcoms were about, more so than being a work of art television program. Every Thursday at 8:30pm you can turn off your brain and depend on a familiar cast of characters to brighten your shitty day.
The idiocy of Joey Tribbiani did it for me. Chandler and Ross were meh although some episodes with Ross (The tanning booth) are pretty funny.Man I thought Friends was objectively shit, but I acknowledge there is value in a show that makes one "comfortable". They’re all lame hacky jokes. They’re sitcoms.yeah...I thought it was a bunch of lame, hacky jokes....but far be it from me to police how others choose to take a break from their shitty days
