OT: Movies/TV Shows

The clip zeke posted is great.

Spielberg is a master at drawing his audience in, building tension in a scene and knowing how and when to break that tension. His movies also evoke a sense of time / place with authenticity - even if the movie itself is not.

Come for his effortless ability to pick up chord progressions, stay for his analysis of whether anything on the top 10 pop charts is interesting (spoiler: there is!).

Rick beato digging the clean, complex, well written by clean Taylor swift. Wow.

It's shocking one of the greatest supporting performances ever did not even get an Oscar nomination. I guess even back then a movie about a killer shark was deemed too silly for an acting nomination. Need serious drama!
Well Shaw did get to be one of the presenters that year.

The only Oscar the film got was the score by John Williams, which is iconic.

But that was the year that "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" mopped up practically every category.

They just couldn't give it to a Shark movie, but 1 year earlier gave Art Carney that fuckin' Oscar.

Orson Wells, Stanley Kubrick, and Alfred Hitchcock have a combined 0 oscars for Best Director…..Academy has always been a fraud.
A number of glaring omissions like Akira Kurosawa.

At least the Academy was consistent in its blindness as Citizen Kane won but one Oscar - best original screenplay.
