Yeah, I read that Guardian article and a lot of it seems to come down to an old old boy who works in fits and starts of inspiration and intuition running head long into the paint by numbers method of filmmaking that has become solidified in the industry over the last 15 yrs.
Everything is so fucking expensive to make now that I get why the corpo studios want everything pre planned to the minute but de-risking the movie making process also appears to remove a lot of the art from it and we get product that is more and more bland more or less as a rule. Made to appeal to everyone and no one.
