OT: Movies/TV Shows

There's no doubt that Costner's movie is the better movie... But there's not a scene in that movie that draws you in the way any Val Kilmer scene does... Especially any Doc/Ringo scenes.
There's something weird about that Costner movie. It's so long yet I always have to watch it when it's on TV. Not sure what it is.

I put this in the other thread of what are you watching...
But I just now have found that YouTube animated show called "The Big Lez Show"

It's Australian stoner humour that grows into like an enlightenment thing...it's great.

Anyone know it?

In a vaccum the finale was good, but for me it didnt save the season from being boring and below average overall.

The first and last episodes were good, the rest less so for me

Well put.

edit: More I think on this the more i realize a really great season was kinda spoiled by being drawn out to 8 episodes, when some quality editing could have stripped it down to a really great 4 episode story.

Gaitok & Mook storyline was a pretty decent story that suffered from being stretched out so long it felt kinda too soft/obvious….but was an interesting tale of spirituality vs temptation…and their courtship kinda paralleling the Tim & Victoria Ratliff marriage, with Tim having taking unethical risks for his riches, it working for a while…but it ultimately blowing up in his face. (Easy to visualize that being in Gaitok’s future)

Rick & Chelsea story line was kinda intriguing, as Rick did turn down the chance to kill Scott Glenn and the debauchery presented to him, to do right by Chelsea……only for spirituality (in the meditation teacher) turning its back on him when he needed it most, and without that foundation he succumbs to the urge to kill his dad, and in true Greek tragedy fashion, kill the woman he loves and ultimately himself, in the process.

I think their arc is one you’d probably keep intact in editing as well.

3 ladies was a decent arc, and Laurie’s speech at the table in the finale was maybe the moment of the series, but plenty of fat that could have been trimmed here for the sake of the show. They had a couple of episodes of nothing, and Laurie at the fights etc, didn’t need to be in there.

Whole Ratliff arc kinda felt like a dud to me….their ending was a big meh, and felt to me like a bit of a flashy rug pull….in episode one it felt like Piper might have the most important arc, and then it’s a whole lotta nothing with her predictably being too much of a princess. (But also cock blocking Laughlin from potentially finding the meaning he craves, for…..reasons?)…..I’d have left a ton of their screen time on the cutting room floor, and waited until much later to reveal that Tim’s lost their wealth & is likely going to jail. Them just returning without ever getting a reveal of the family finding out, was a waste.

Belinda & Gregg stuff was like one episode of story, but kinda funny to see her do to her Pornchai what Tanya had done to her… (and Pornchai seemed like an actual good person, unlike Belinda who was pretending to be nice to Tanya for the money, lol)…..her walking out on the meeting with Greg on account of faux principles, just as leverage tho, was some great writing….they got me with that.

Greg was probably under utilized overall….and more Rockwell would have been welcome too.
