OT: Movies/TV Shows

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Now I'm checking out this documentary, Urbanized. It's all about how city planners come together and design roads, buildings, effective sanitation, and how they reconcile those plans with the wishes of residents, historical landmarks, and developers to build our largest urban dwellings and the associated problems involved with growth:

I'll have to check that out. I find urban planning incredibly interesting.

Whenever I travel to someplace new I'm always thinking about what works and what doesn't. I watch some doc on the slums of Mumbai and how in many ways they are a model of good urban design, except of course for sanitation and infrastructure, it was cool.

They touch upon the Mumbai slum situation, as well as integrating the favelas in Rio, in the documentary actually.

The last few iterations of the Sim City franchise have done a pretty good job of letting you play god, with a fairly accurate risk-reward setup.

This should be a good one:

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Anyone see Prometheus last night?

Heard an interesting theory last week, about how a Bladerunner sequel will actually act as a bridge between the two franchises.

Bladerunner - [Bladerunner Sequel] - Prometheus - Alien - etc..

Apparently it would have something to do with Fassbender's "David" character.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

it was basically an alien remake....

it was okay...not nearly as suspenseful as the original

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I was a lot more interested in Prometheus before I found out it was an Alien prequel. Now, I'm not particularly interested in seeing it.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

It's not a direct prequel. It takes place in the same "universe" however.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

At the very least it's better than Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection :p

I place it 3rd behind Aliens (clearly the best of the bunch) and Alien.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Ridley Scott vs. James Cameron

Suspense vs. Action
