OT: Movies/TV Shows

People still watch "live" tv? I haven't seen a commercial in 20 years.

So you basically didn't watch any television at all between 1995 and 2005? It's really only in the past decade that torrent sites, streaming, and things like Netflix and Shomi have given people the option to watch entire series at will online.

I still prefer to watch my sports live

Agreed.

I've still never watched a sporting event that wasn't live in my life. Even if I hid from people and shut off all outside communication to prevent myself from knowing the score, it's just not the same. You know you're fooling yourself.

You miss the game, you miss the game. I have to know the result immediately.

You PVR or if you're old like me you would set the VCR....you can skip all the ads. Even sports with a PVR you can start watching 15 minutes after it starts recording and just skip what you don;t want to see. Not live no, but you're only 15 minutes behind "live".

I like to read the GDTs on here during Hab games so I can't be behind.

By the way, nice job everyone, twisting the original thought of not watch Colbert because of the comercials to only wanting to watch "Live" sports. Are you guys all lawyers?

habs games start at 5 so by the time i get home from work, etc i am a bit late
i normally catch up during the first intermission

Was the statement not that you hadn't seen a commercial in 20 years? Was it not????

Started watching Narcos. I'm up to episode 4 and so far so good. Not a Breaking Bad but pretty good so far.

I thought Colbert was not great. Seemed nervous and a bit awkward (like "I can't believe I'm doing this"). Even his interview with Jeb seemed off. He'll get better.

But I don't think I can watch the broadcast. The amount of commercials they jam in between segments is outrageous.

I downloaded it and watched it the next day, but I 100% agree with your assessment of the show.....I was pretty non-plussed by it, particularly given the expectations I had going into it.

It wasn't even as good as a bad 'Colbert Report' to be honest......but the debut show of a Late Night franchise like this, is so atypical to what we'll likely get most nights, I'm not too concerned. Th fact he's kept the desk segment very similar to what he had on the 'Colbert Report' will be a big plus. For me at least, he can only go up from here.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premiered Tuesday night with an impressive, ratings-topping 6.6 million viewers, but as Colbert informed his audience Wednesday, his inaugural episode came dangerously close to not airing at all because of a technical glitch. "I almost needed a heart transplant last night because a funny thing happened, and I'm telling you, this is absolutely a true story … The show almost didn't get on the air last night," the host said in his opening.

He was better last night. Still not what I think we are all expecting but it was a big improvement I thought.
