OT: Movies/TV Shows

Tore through season one of Fargo over the weekend......absurdly good.

It's a great balance of crime noire, black comedy and biting satire.......the writers/directors/cinematographers did a fantastic of capturing the Coens aesthetic, while mixing in plenty of the philosophical/existential queries they're known for.

Looking forward to digging in to season 2, even though it's a whole new cast/story.....intrigued to see if Noah Hawley can pull it off a second time, because his script for season one was fantastic.

Yeah, season 1 was sick....And i for one enjoyed the premiere of 2

I am running through game of thrones again.

Probably the 10th time I have watched season 1.

Halfway through season 2 now.

I see there being zero chance that Fargo goes the way of TD.

For starters the same writers and directors are involved and the fact that this is a prequel with the events in season 2 set up/teased in season 1....helps a ton.

For those unaware the lead character in 2, is a character in 1

the problem I always run into is that I record a ton of hockey/football which take hours to get through, then I have a ton of series and with my son's hockey all being at night, my PVR gets loaded up then I give up and don't watch. #firstworldproblems

Fargo 2 is supposed to be better than the first season. according to critics. More focused, less subplots and minor characters.

Some of that is the charm that made the first season so great.

That's not to say that season 2 can't be as great or better... but those factors aren't necessarily anything that took away from the greatness of season 1.

I liked the side characters in S1

Glenn Howerton, Oliver Platt, and Kate Walsh for example were terriffic.

One thing this show seems to nail is casting.

BBT, Tolman, Hanks, Odinkirk, Goldberg, and Carradine in 1

Danson, Wilson, Plemons, Dunst, Smart and Garrett in 2 all seem to fit the niche well.

Agreed.

Season one for me was so phenomenal in part because they made me care about virtually every character that appeared on screen over the course of its run. Despite having an enormous cast of characters.

I'm real glad to hear people are liking season 2 even more.....I really enjoyed season 2 premiere, but I'll be somewhat surprised if it's actually a better season.

A lot is being made that Hamil is not on the movie poster. I'm wondering if Hamel/Luke has turned to the darkside?

That guy states "I will finish what you've started" And we see the mechanical hand on R2 which we assume is Luke. Maybe he's "more machine than man" and that causes him to be the baddy.

That way he is on the poster, as the villain.

I'm sure I'm far from the first person to say this, but I'm pretty sure that Luke is in the poster.

He's the guy in the mask, with the red lightsaber.

That's Kylo Ren and he's being played by Adam Driver. Mark Hamil is not on the poster and I don't believe it's an accident.
