OT: NFL thread

A better solution is that they do not get to host a playoff game if they are under .500. If the wild card team has a better record, they get to host.

I never said this would ever happen. I know it won't. It was a comment on the pathetic NFC East.

Last year it was the NFC South, another time the NFC West, I believe the AFC West had a few 8-8 winners as well.

I suspect no one wants to win the NFC East this year. At least the Iggles and Cowboys have excuses in that their QBs (even though Bradford is a borderline starter) were out. Giants have no such excuse

In 1981 the Ottawa Rough Riders went to the Grey Cup with a record of 5-11 and damn near won it. Back in those days there was no crossover format.

but why though if you are a wild card and you cannot beat a below .500 team, maybe you shouldn't be in.

What happens in a freak year where say only three division winners are over .500, and no teams in WC are either (highly unlikely but who knows). What do you do then, just have three teams in the post season?

It seems silly to have a division winner in under .500 but to give a blanket no playoffs if under .500 is to paraphrase your boy Rubio, a silly response.

Why should the wild card have to go ON THE ROAD to play the below 500 division winner? this is the current rule.

love it when the Cowboys get a 1st and goal on the three-yard line and come away with nothing...

All the boxes got checked for me today.

Steelers win: check
Seahawks win: check
Packers win: check
Cowboys loss: check

The Vikings and Bears both lost this week which puts Green Bay comfortably into first place in the NFC North. The Seahawks now have the #5 seed which would mean they get to beat up on the NFC East division winner .

And how bout that Dez Bryant? One reception for 9 yards and 3 dropped balls. What a game-breaker he is.

I'm not sure why defenders try to bring Lacy down with shoulder tackles --- it's the legs or don't bother

So now you hate Bryant? Please, he is still better than any receiver on any of the 10 NFL teams you cheer for, he had a bad game, no doubt but to crap on him over a bad game is pretty pitiful.

I wonder though why the Packers are constantly rammed down our throat. Three straight national games. Tsk tsk.

BTW, I wouldn't be crowing too much re the small market Packers, hell they only put the game away late against a bad team.

If the Giants lose tonight they're cooked.

irony is that Philadelphia reporters and fans were whining to high heaven that Brady was supposed to miss the Cowboys' game due to suspension claiming it gave us an unfair advantage but now the Eagles got the benefit from the Patriots being half a team. Now they have a chance to make the post season. You are right though, a Giant loss ends their season. Stupidest part of the NFC East is that if the Cowboys found a way to win their next three, they would have all tie breakers and win the division if the Eagles and Redskins only win one of their next three.

I would prefer the top 4 draft pick and it would be better for you if Chipper didn't win the division as then you could fire him. Win the division and it is hard to fire him.

Chip isn't getting fired regardless. Too much invested in him at this point. He'll get another year for sure, maybe even two.
