If they lose tonight and only get in because Redskins lost, that is the textbook definition of backing in.

well in theory no. Since the redskins game is before. It makes the result of tonight's game irrelevant for making the playoff or not.
The textbook definition of backing in is them losing in the afternoon, and then washington losing tonight causing them to back into the playoffs.
 
All Washington has to do is lose or tie and the Packers are in, thanks to Tampa and Philly both winning today.

So in a way, the Cowboys could have done something to prevent the Packers from getting in but they chose to play Romo instead.

Year in and year out, coaches choose to rest players and most of the times it come back to bite them in the ass.
However, BB in NE always plays hard in last game regardless of meaning of game, and his team is always sharp come playoff time
