OT: NFL thread

Kaepernick never had a shot of having the job in Florida when he wore a Castro shirt. not with the amount of Cubans living there.

On an absolute garbage 49ers team

Kaepernick played 12 games, had 16 TDs and 4 INTs and a 90.7 QB Rating.

You can't convince me that he is not (at minimum) one of the top backups in the NFL.

Hell, he is better than the starters in Chicago, New York Jets, Cleveland, San Francisco, Los Angeles Rams, Miami (Cutler), Jacksonville, Houston, Denver

He also would be an easy upgrade for two teams with QB injury issues.... Indianapolis and Baltimore.

There is no way this is about talent... this is about his political protest of not standing for the anthem, pure and simple.

The owners don't want the media drama of him in the lineup ,period. He isn't Brady or Von Miller making a stand . He is now a journeyman player and no one gives a shit about his values in a short 16 game season when every game counts . Minny had no problem bringing back AP , he could of bombed a city but if he can still produce and make a difference , come on by.

Rice was done as a premier back, he was replaceable and no need to put with with issues when there are 50 guys available on practice squads to do the same back up job.

If your elite and or very productive your welcomed back, douchebags like CK trying to prove appoint from any race or colour your punted out.

Further to this point, all those pre-game ceremonies you see which honour veterans and the military are not done out of any altruistic motive on the part of the NFL. The US military PAYS the NFL to stage these tributes to use as a recruiting gimmick. The target demographic of the NFL is the same demographic that the military wants to tap into. So if you think the NFL is going to upset that very lucrative apple cart for Kaepernick, think again.

Douchebags???

Really???

Total knob for what he did , on what planet did he think he wasn't going to get his career punished for his antics.

Just STFU stay clean and dont rock the boat . When you retire in your 30's you can protest , smoke dope , beat up your bitches , or join some trend setting movement .

This league has no mercy , make your money when you can with no guaranteed deals , play by the rules and retire loaded .

CK did not become CK by being Geeman. Maybe Geeman needs to become more like CK so the world cares about him. Just saying.

Let CK be CK. Let the man be.

BTW, the reality is that CK is not such a great systems QB able to adjust to opposing def strategies.

Nobody would care about his belief systems if they thought he could lead them to victory.

Absolutely let him do what he wants , it's his right agree or disagree.

Simply discussing his tactics in this league of owners who will chew you up and spit you out .

Your earning power is short and no one gives a shit about a players views when you aren't relevant .

He can kneel 24/7 when he retires and maybe could of made another 20 mil or so.

Don't come and tell me that Kaepernick isn't better than Jay Cutler coming out of retirement. He's clearly been blackballed by the league (no pun intended) which has no problem with rapists and serial abusers so long as they put their hand over their heart when the national anthem is played.

Jay Cutler hasn't been retired for 5 min and he has a history with the coach and likely the type of offense that will be run in MIA. Pretty easy decision.

You are still supporting my point. The issue is NOT if he has the talent to be at LEAST a backup. He obviously does.

The issue is WHY gamble with chemistry? Why sign a guy who is AT BEST a backup who may upset half the locker room?

Hes a starter on a number of teams.

Others already have injury concerns and need a better backup.

Then you have teams like oakland last year. Were looking at the number one seed in the afc and the season went up in smoke when carr got hurt.

So having a good backup is critical. Look how many teams had a qb not play 16 games last year.

He is a starter on MAYBE 5 teams... so I guess that is a number.

If having a good back up is so "critical" why do Superbowl winners seem to always win with starters?

Last 20 years:
Brady
Manning
Brady
Wilson
Flacco
E.Manning
Rodgers
Brees
Roethlisberger
E.Manning
Manning
Roethlisberger
Brady
B.Johnson (Shit.. but their starter)
Brady
Dilfer (Shit.. but their starter)
Warner
Elway
Elway
Favre

Answer: Backups don't do shit. So again, why bother with a locker room headache and likely pissing off fans to sign a marginal talent?

A backup can keep you alive while your starter is getting healthy.

Yeah if you lose your starter for the season you are shot. But you want to be able to go 2-2 for four weeks while your starter recovers.

Well, teams will be happy to know that he is available if they get desperate ;)

I think most players have supported his stance though. I dont see where he divides locker rooms. Is he controversial to fans? Sure. But im not sure hes controversial to teammates
