OT: NFL thread

I think most players have supported his stance though. I dont see where he divides locker rooms. Is he controversial to fans? Sure. But im not sure hes controversial to teammates

Players have spoken out across the league. Not everyone is so found with the disrespect being shown for the flag and especially to those who fought for it. In fact James Harrison made it publicly known what he thought of it:

"If you on my team and not standin for Anthem better be from a broken leg or I'm gonna give you one. #EyesonuCK"

Let's also not forget that CK could be on an NFL roster if he was willing to take a paycut. Everyone including his supporters think he is a starter on a really shitty team or an NFL backup. CK seems to still want starter $.

No one has confirmed what contract he is looking for since may.

I also dont think what he asked for in may os necessarily what he asked for today.

Seattle in may is the last team to.negotiate with him. Neither miami nor Baltimore talked numbers.

Yes and neither of miami or baltimore ever talked numbers with him.

Gase wanted cutler.

Bisciotti told newsome not to offer a contract.

Which is his right. It's a business. If he doesn't want to take a chance on a player who can be a distraction, he is not obligated to.

CK has the "freedom" to express his feelings/opinion. Everyone else has the right to agree, disagree, or employ, not employ him.

The reward hasn't outweighed the risk for anyone yet and I can totally see why.

I didnt say there was anything wrong with what biscotti did.

Its his team. He can choose to say id rather have good pr than have the best talent at backup qb.

I just said no one has talked contract with him recently. We have no idea if he still wants starter money as he did in May.

The flag and the anthem stand for more than just "a song" to many.
Id argue that the troops fight for freedom. Part of that freedom is the freedom to express yourself or make any form of non-violent protest that you want. I may not agree with Kaepernicks stance but I'll defend his freedom to take that stance.

CK could have made his point without disrespecting anyone. I am fully aware that CK has the right to protest, his unemployment is the consequence for how he decided to go about it.

cant think of a better way to go about it

maybe i am not remembering correctly

but didnt he just kneel during the anthem while cops were murdering black people ?

He did something that was non-violent and got huge attention. Got a ton of people talking about the subject that wouldn't have otherwise talked about it.

I can't think of a better way to go about things.

If it could be proven that he is being denied employment because of his political beliefs Kaepernick could sue. Black-balling someone for exercising their First Amendment rights should be illegal if, as I say, it can be proven.

Ohhhhhhh puh-leeeeeeease

CK contribution to this issue is microscopic in comparison to the actions of real activists and the actions from BLM.

If he wasn't a marginal talent he might be able to build a case. As it stands he should team up with Johnny Football and go to the CFL.

Bingo , its like a dude with an umbrella trying to fight off a hurricane .

These marginal athletes make me laugh . Doesnt he have an agent , advisers or players he can talk too .

How many incidents has he witnessed where the owners cut your throat off and ended your career when you arent relevant .

State your case all you want CK , you pissed away your employment .

I disagree. Kaepernick has done far more to generate media attention and mainstream awareness than any other single protest.
