OT: NFL Thread

That's madness to me. I get pro athletes, to an extent.

But in a rec league with people who play for the fun of it and as a social activity? Nah man. I'll wear my damn neck guard.
I used to but dropped the neck guard almost 20 years ago as I was the only one wearing one. It's uncomfortable and gets hot and to be honest, I don't think I've ever witnessed a serious neck injury in our leagues. Now I would never ever play without a full face mask but some players do.

Even when I was a kid, I'd never, ever play a game if I didn't have a neck guard and I always thought it was crazy that players in pro leagues never had 'em.
When I was a kid (I began playing organized hockey in 1972) they made you wear a helmet and a mouth guard (which was idiotic because kids that young still have their baby teeth, which they're going to lose anyway) Also, it wasn't a mouth guard that you actually put into your mouth but an external plastic cage that attached to your helmet by a strap and only covered your mouth. They didn't care about eye protection of any sort and a lot of the helmets were so thinly padded that they'd never pass muster with a CSA inspection today. My first helmet was one of those 3 piece Butch Goring specials.

When I was playing intramural hockey in university (a couple of years prior to the Malarchuk incident) helmets, visors, and neck guards were mandatory equipment.

Damn, the Patriots are shit. The Hoodie was clearly a creation of Brady, not the other way around. They didn't such this much when Plunkett and Grogan were the QB's.

BB didn't evolve all that gracefully with modern-day football.

Defensively, he's still a guru. But offensively, he's out of his element and it shows.

The game has passed him by. Terrible/weird drafting gutted the offence, a weird obsession with special teams, etc.

Hoodie’s last masterpiece was the SB win against the Rams. 10-3. Brady was just managing the game. That was a contrarian finger in the eye to the more modern game, but really it was a last stand.

Kraft needs to clean house.
