OT: Politics & News... Have at it.

I'm shocked with a world poulation in the 7 billion range, there are only 120,000 people with more than $50M in assets. I don't buy that, it's gotta be 500K+, and there are more than 1M Canadians with net asset values over $1M, much more....

I'm not convinced of that. That's already 1 person out of 35, that's a lot.

Weird part is she is a woman who takes the wrong position on women's issues. She will be picked because she has a vagina to get the vagina vote but women won't like her position on abortion paid mat leave etc

I think she could score some points with women who are past childbearing age but would still like to live vicariously through her.

Assimilation is a dirty word in Canada thanks to Quebec nationalism. French Canadians have always resisted being assimilated by the English so in Canada, we don't presume to assimilate anyone. The US has a so-called "melting pot" in which people of all different backgrounds are assimilated or "melted down" into a new form called Americans. In Canada, the model is that of a mosaic in which each person is an individual tile in a larger whole. Viewed at a distance you see Canada and up close you see the individual differences of each person or tile in the mosaic.

The US likes to think of itself as a more homogenous nation than it really is whereas in Canada we accept the fact that we are a pluralistic society. Conservatives on both sides of the border long for a country that resembles a 1950's TV show: almost exclusively white, almost exclusively Christian, and almost exclusively conservative in thought, word and deed.

Liberal gaff. Could this be fatal?

I doubt it. Well over a million people, myself included, have already cast their votes in advanced polls and very few of them were cast for the Conservatives. High voter turnout, especially in advance polls, is indicative of one thing: the electorate can't wait to get rid of the incumbent.

Most of the rest have already conceded that Mulcair is dead in the water so they won't waste their votes on him.

It is no worse than the Conservative candidates saying that the Liberals want whorehouses on every street or that gayness is something that can be cured.

In any event, given much of the country in Blue Jay lala land, most won't even notice the resignation.

I'm happy this guy stepped down but in my opinion trudeau needed to kick him out of the door.

People still have fears of liberal bagmen and thus is only going to remind people.

I think most people are smart enough to realize that all the parties have bagmen. Politicians of every party are for sale.
